Author's Bio

Terence Ang writes about stroke, aphasia, resilience and the search for hope after life changes unexpectedly. An award-winning Singaporean author, artist, stroke survivor and advocate, he turned to writing after a haemorrhagic stroke in 2020 affected his ability to communicate.

His books include A Cry in the Dark, Emerging from the Dark, Strength in Motion, THE BOY & THE MAN, Thunderstroke and Brokenness Becomes Beautiful. Through memoir, poetry, graphic storytelling and rehabilitation-focused writing, he shares the realities of recovery while encouraging survivors, caregivers and readers facing adversity.

His work has received recognition from the NYC Big Book Award, Independent Press Award, Literary Titan, The BookFest and International Impact Book Awards. In 2026, Thunderstroke and Brokenness Becomes Beautiful were showcased at the American Library Association Annual Conference, the New York City Poetry Festival and the International Dublin Writers’ Festival. The audiobook of Brokenness Becomes Beautiful uses an AI-generated version of his own voice, reflecting his journey of reclaiming identity and expression while living with aphasia.
