My name is William Long, but I’m known to my friends as Bill, and I live and work in Northern Ireland, the better part of the year.
I’m from a sales and marketing background, having at one time my own business designing and producing branded goods for a wide range of high profile clients, including Coca-Cola, the Ryder Cup, the Five Nations Rugby Championship etc. After retiring from business, I devoted some of my time for a few years to working in a men’s hostel for the homeless.
Now I concentrate on writing, with my current project being a series of sci-fi/fantasy adventure stories aimed at the young adult market – and older kids!
Published in July 2014, by New Generation Publishing, the first in the series, Timecrack, is now available in paperback and hardback from most online booksellers, worldwide, including Amazon.
Next in the Timecrack series, Copanatec, will be published in late 2014.
I’ve worked in Canada and the USA, and I still travel as often as I can. In recent years I’ve visited Sri Lanka, Mexico, Rome, Pompeii, Egypt and Newgrange in Ireland to pursue an interest in ancient cultures.
My first book, An Unexpected Diagnosis is a collection of fictional Irish short stories, but the title story refers to my true experience on discovering I had prostate cancer. I was very fortunate to discover it early, dealing with it successfully through surgery. Now I treat every new day as a bonus. It was also the push I needed to start writing and stop thinking about it!
