Scott Berry was born in 1956 and grew up in Columbiana, Ohio. He worked as a historian for the US Air Force for 15 years, writing on such topics as the TR-1 reconnaissance airplane and the deactivation of the Titan II ICBM. Berry accepted an assignment teaching history, government and economics at a high school in Albuquerque, New Mexico, after leaving his post with the government. He has written numerous children’s stories, plays, and musicals, and has also been actively involved in the production of several puppet shows for young children. His writings cover a wide range of subjects, both fiction and nonfiction. Berry also spends several months each year in the Philippines, where he provides school supplies and clothing to needy children. He created a public charity which focuses on children living in squatter settlements and in struggling agricultural communities throughout the province of Bohol. He has just published a book describing his experiences in the Philippines: Return to the Middle. Berry lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico, with his wife, Zella, and their dog, Gus. They have two adult children who are both married, and two grandchildren who enjoy their grandfather’s stories.
