Dr. Winston Collins, the third of 8 children, parented by Harvie and Veada Collins was born in Galveston, Texas. His father had to stop attending school in the 3rd grade to help his father care for their family. His mother worked as a house-keeper and surrogate parent for affluent families in Galveston, Texas.
He was the first in his family to graduate college, and he went on to earn his doctorate at the University of Pennsylvania. His doctoral dissertation was a ground breaking study on ‘self-concept.’ Upon completing his doctorate, he went into private practice and applied his research findings to his clinical practice.
After 25 years, he has chronicled his professional experiences in a trail-blazing book titled ‘A Journey from T1 Relationships to Personal Freedom’. His work has improved the emotional and spiritual wellbeing of countless individuals and families. Winston enjoys music, and he has played bass for numerous R&B and gospel artists. Presently, he is the music director for the Quiet Storm band in Philadelphia. He often says he was born to play the bass guitar.
Dr. Collins is also a member of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity and credits his experiences while pledging for most of his life’s success since college. He believes pledging Omega proved he could accomplish anything worthwhile in life. Well he has done so!
