Dalba Castrillon is a Dominican-American writer born and raised in Washington Heights. She spent the early years of her childhood in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. At a very young age, she began to write short stories and poems, which she would pass along to her friends. During her years in high school, she was known to be a voracious reader and was also praised for her excellent writing skills.

She attended Borough of Manhattan Community College where she completed her associate degree. Upon graduation, she worked for a non-profit organization for 8 years while attending Monroe College to complete her Bachelor’s Degree. Her passion for teaching led her to enroll in a teaching program. She became an elementary school teacher and was responsible for a group of bilingual students that were reminiscent of her childhood. She taught ESL to parents so that they could also make the transition with their children. Despite her full agenda, she decided to pursue her long-time dream of writing a novel.

Dalba currently resides in the Inwood section of Manhattan with her husband and children.
